Five things I thought about during my morning run:

1. School starting tomorrow and all the shopping I have to do TODAY. Argh. 2. Cumberland Creek. 3. Dipping my toes into self-publishing. I’m working on compilation of my newspaper column, a collection of funny and inspiring thoughts on parenting. Stay tuned for that. 4. Trying a different route today with a few more hills. Whew. It’s always good to change it up a bit. 5. So nice to take Tess with me this morning while I was walking the dog. We’ve gotten some great walks in...

Bleeding Heart: Do I Critique for Free?

Posted by on Aug 15, 2011 in Blog, Scrapbook of Secrets | 6 comments

This is the next stop on the Mystery Writer’s Rolling Blog Ink. Today’s topic is “Do You Critique for Free?” Writers are a funny lot. We need the support of other writers because we work alone. It’s the nature of our work—and it’s difficult for us to see it clearly. We are not like  doctors or flight attendants, coming into contact with people every day and knowing whether or not you’ve failed.  And yet the other person in our work, the reader, is...

Five things I thought about during my morning run:

1. Perfect day for a run. Walking out the door this morning was like walking into a cool dream. 2.Reading Laura Childs’ Fiber and Brimstone–a Scrapbooking Mystery. It’s enjoyable. Set in New Orleans, my favorite city I’ve never been to. But there are a lot of pie-friends there! 3. And when you read Anne Rice’s vampire series, you sort of feel like you know the city. 4. Can’t believe my kids are going back to school next week. I hate that. 5. My cover is up on...

1. My house filled with golden light this morning and how it gave way to the gray. 2. Marbled-gray skies. Spitting rain. 3. My Emma–up and at it this morning. I think we’ve given her a good work ethic, if nothing else. She’s off to the museum for the day to work on the farms. 4. We’ve been hearing about what a good worker she is–but also about how “entertaining” she is. heh. 5. If you haven’t heard, I’m doing a pre-sale special on...

Five Questions for Therese Walsh

Five Questions for Therese Walsh

Therese Walsh is at the top of my list of wonderful-talented-friendly people I’ve met through social media. We bonded over 140-characters-or-less musings about our children. Little did I know what a gifted writer she is. I ordered her book, THE LAST WILL OF MOIRA LEAHY, read it,  and was blown away by the stunning, poetic, haunting story. And I was not the only person to note how wonderful this book is. Among other things, it was selected as a Target Breakout book. (Check out her...
